One of the bands I played guitar for was the NYC band HEAL! (H.umans E.ducated A.gainst L.ies) fronted by Stephan Ielpi, former frontman of the legendary NYC band "False Prophets". Allen Ginsberg used to jam with the Prophets at CBGB's and other NYC locations. For the 1st time on the internet I will share with each of you the music and video I put together for this special project.

"Howling for Allen" & "Dharma Lion" was a labor of love recorded shortly after the passing of American Beat Poet Allen Ginsberg, Stephan Ielpi penned the lyrics with the band HEAL! They were together for 2 and half years, released 2 cds of original material and a ltd. edition cd ep of the above titles.

HEAL! toured Eastern Europe during the summer of 98' to enthusiastic audiences and gigged steadily in the New York metro area. Presented here for the very 1st time is the complete "Dharma Lion" session with a video put together by Myztico, the guitarist for HEAL! To celebrate the memory of Ginsberg and to share with the world the music and poetry that resulted from this session, recorded & mixed over the course of a hot summer weekend in NYC on 14th. street.

From the ashes of the now legendary NYC hardcore band "The False Prophets" ,Stephan Ielpi and the band HEAL! arose to perform together for 3 years in the NYC circuit as well as Europe. This particular performance of "Walkabout" from the cd "Shaman get It" was filmed/recorded at the landmark "CBGB's (omfug)" in 1998 on a HI8 video cam audio track through its stereo condensor mic.

Audio was tweaked and mastered to create the best quality possible for the web. Best to listen through decent quality speakers or through headphones. Crank it up.... "Conquer Death...so you may Live"!!!!

This is a rare unreleased track available for the first time online in its entirety that my band, HEAL! (H.umans E.ducated A.gainst L.ies!) recorded in tribute to the great american poet, Allen Ginsberg shortly after his passing. It begins with the poem “Howling for Allen” and ends with the celebratory song “Dharma Lion”. Ginsberg had performed several times with Stephan Ielpi’s band the “False Prophets” in NYC. Allen was like a mentor to Stephan as he studied at the Naropa Institute with him. Upon Ginsberg's passing I wrote the music to this track as well as the sonic collage for the poem that Stephan wrote. I hope that fans of Ginsberg's work enjoys this tribute & the poem that follows it.
