"I Know I'm not Alone" - Musician Michael Franti & Spearhead document a musical journey into war torn Iraq in this moving quest to witness first hand through the eyes of an artist what in the world is going on in the country that was once the cradle of the earliest civilization known as Sumeria. Michael also pays a visit to the Israeli government's apartheid system in Palestine, powerful!. War, what is it good for? Absolutely nothing! Except for a very few banking cartels and the military industrial complex that reap the souless financial benefits, POWER to the PEACEFUL indeed!

Whats Going On? - Marvin Gaye's timeless anti-war statement

As a kid I admired the Jackson 5, they sparked my interest in picking up an instrument. Years later as an adult Michael Jackson became more politically aware and this video should have been playing out during the summer media circus. It's been stated that he was a serious drug addict. The details that have been related are quite horrific and it sounds like he consumed the contents of entire pharmacies...but at age 50, the man was healthy enough to be preparing for a series of 50 live shows in a venue that can hold up to 23,000.

Have you ever danced all night? Have you ever danced all night fifty nights in front of thousands of people? Have you ever danced at Michael Jackson's level?

Video of rehearsals shot just before he died indicate that Jackson could still move well. No one who was anything less than a superbly conditioned athlete could have pulled off the series of performances he was about to embark on.

That's not to say that Jackson was not an athlete with a drug problem, but is it possible that the severity of his drug problem might have been exaggerated just a tad? How many serious drug abusers do you know who at the age of 50 could set out on a program like this?   The reasons I ask...   ave you ever seen the prison version of the music video for his song "They don't really care about us"

I confess I never have until recently. The way it portrayed the world it could have been a promo for Alex Jones' Prison Planet web site! Clearly, before he died, Jackson had made a definite shift from pure entertainment to entertainment with a strong social statement component - and his commentary was not flattering to the powers that be.

It must be a great relief to those who don't want the pot stirred that Jackson accidentally, coincidentally, and conveniently died because of his ghastly addiction to drugs right before he was primed to to explode again on the world scene.

B.B King -Classic Live on Ralph Gleason's 1968 Jazz Casual Pt.1 & 2

Robert Johnson-(pure blues personified) Here is where the recorded blues began with and what has inspired generations of musicians)

Charlie Christian is generally recognised as the person who popularised the electric guitar (although not the first) and who changed everyone's thinking about how jazz could be played on it. As well as playing guitar for Benny Goodman, Charlie participated in after hours jam sessions with other musicians in places such as Mintons and Monroes in New York City. On 12 May 1941 Charlie played 'Swing to Bop' at Mintons, with Joe Guy on trumpet, Kenny Kersey on piano, Nick Fenton on bass and Kenny Clarke on drums. This live track excerpt is characterised by longer solos than Charlie would typically play with Goodman, and is a good indication of his incredible improvisational abilities. His influence on guitarists then and since has been massive. Sadly, there is no film available of Charlie Christian playing live, so here's a slide show to accompany this track.

Billie Holiday: Reunited after many years with tenor saxophonist Lester Young, Billie's visual reaction to his moving solo remains as eloquent as anything she ever sang; a touching finale to their historic musical partnership. Introduced by Robert Herridge (producer/host of CBS' "The Sound of Jazz"), this is perhaps the single most famous "live jazz" performance in TV history. Other members of the all-star band seen here: Coleman Hawkins, Ben Webster, Gerry Mulligan, Roy Eldridge, Doc Cheatham, Vic Dickenson, Danny Barker, Milt HintonMatt Waldran.

Billie Holiday -performs Strange Fruit an inspired artist goddess that displayed her energy in many beautiful ways

I remember having several drinks with him and the great sense of humor and humbleness he had.He even allowed me to jam with his band as I played harmonica, those were heady times, Bless You Albert!)
